About the tour

This holiday is a planned itinerary that has been thoroughly researched by our in-house experts. Our bookings team are more than happy to alter and adjust the itinerary to suit your specific needs.

Located around the coasts and isles of Lochaber, this self-drive tour will introduce you to the area’s array of wildlife on a variety of guided tours both on land and at sea. Some of the animals you’ll be most looking for include: Basking Sharks, Minke Whales, Bottlenose Dolphins, Golden Eagles, Red Deer and Fallow Deer.

To fully immerse you in the Scottish culture, you’ll be staying in a variety of hotels bursting with character and charm as you make your way between Kilchoan and Oban.

Start - Kilchoan

To kickstart your holiday, you’ll be staying for two nights in Kilchoan.

Choose between either a clean and comfortable 3-star hotel or a stunning 13th-century castle that has been painstakingly refurbished.

Whilst in Kilchoan, you’ll be going on a wildlife tour in and around Ardnamurchan. The exact focus of the tour will be yours to choose. But, as an idea, you could look for animals like the Scottish wildcat, eagles, kestrels, deer, otters and pine martens to name but a few.

Tobermory, Isle Of Mull

You’ll catch the ferry to Tobermory which will be your base for the next two nights.

Here there’s a choice of three accommodations ranging from a boutique-style, family-run hotel located on the seafront, an Edwardian-style property nestled in the forest or a remarkable 19th-century castle.

The next wildlife activity on your break is a marine wildlife trip. Minke whales, basking sharks, dolphins and seals are just some of the animals that can be sighted whilst sailing around the Isle Of Mull.

Oban

The final stop on your tour of Scotland’s wild west coast will be in Oban where the accommodation you’ll get to choose from can either be a hotel situated on the Esplanade which features spacious, contemporary suites. A new and luxurious hotel crammed with in-room amenities. Or, a private, self-catering chalet nestled in the hills just over two miles away from Oban.

This next activity is ideal for getting up close with wild baking sharks. You’ll have a good chance of seeing them and if you want, you can either get in the water with and snorkel alongside them.

(Optional) On your final day, before you leave home, you may want to squeeze in an extra activity. One where you’ll soar high above Argyll in a small plane to see this beautiful place like you’ve never before.
